Got Some New Tires was created by nosynack
I only got 13K out of the Eagle F1 Supercar tires that came on the car. Decided to go with Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110's. Went with stock sizes, 245/45R20 front and 255/45R20 rear. Thought about using 255/45R20 (f) and 275/40R20 (r) but the 255 (and the 245) is actually taller than the 275. Didn't like the idea of taller tires upfront. Got what I thought was a good deal on the price from a high volume shop (install only, no alignment) that was recommended for prices.

Drove the car from the tire shop to the alignment shop to get it aligned. Next day, I get a chance to get on the freeway and I feel the steering wheel vibrating at about 65mph, like a bad balance. I get home the next day and decide to clean off the tape from the old weights, before I take it back to the tire shop, and discovered that they had scratched the finish inside the barrel of the wheels while prying the weights off. I also saw a combination of weights, stick-on and clamp on. Looked like sloppy placement to me (I busted tires for a while a few years ago). At that point I decided a couple of things. One, I'll never get another tire mounted there again, and two, I need a decent balance.

I figured I'd look for a shop with a Hunter Road Force machine. I remembered that there was a speed shop nearby, Haddad Motorsports (I read about him on CT: 2008 Challenger Fully Peddered ), and decided to give him a call. Spoke with Mike and he said he could see me that day, or next week. We made arraignments for that day, in an hour (3 miles away). Went in and found that all four tires were out of balance. Only the left rear needed a small Road Force adjustment but because of the location it wasn't really necessary.

With the tires squared away, and wallet lighter, I asked Mike about installing a rear sway bar for me (I would do the front). He said that sways are the last thing he would do on that car because of the MBZ bushings. He's a Pedders dealer and knowledgeable suspension guy, and by the time I left his shop I was rethinking my suspension mods. Ouch, expensive tires...

Always upsetting when people can't do their job and you half to pay for it twice.
Glad to hear its all better now.
Care to share the name of the, place so that others can avoid this scenario?
Had a flat a year ago, luckily got it fixed (they wanted to sell a new tire, only 7k mi.)
Washing it the next day found the tape from the old weights, scratched my own rims cleaning.
At least it was me I had a stern talking with.

Yep. Got to chalk it up to lessons learned.

Fairmount Tire, the store on Slauson Ave in Los Angeles. It's always busy. 3 installation bays, two cars deep (six cars at a time) with no lifts. All floor jacks.

LOL! I've had to cuss myself out at least a couple of times....

Shopping the same tires currently as my F1 are at 13.5k and have maybe another
1k left, would have been more but the front alignment was a little off and the outsides
are wearing faster than the inside.

I've been quoted $850 for 245/45 front and 275/40 rear. About $75-$100 less if I go 245/45
and 255/45. That's out the door, mounted & balanced. Sound about right?

Those prices sound about right to me (without TPMS kit).
