sf 2013 group sm 1SoCal Challengers (SCC) attended the 8th annual Spring Festival of LXs held at the old El Toro Marine base in Irvine, CA on Saturday, March 23rd 2013. It was an amazing event that started out with meeting our friends from NorCal Challengers and Central Coast Challengers at the Yardhouse building for the roll-in to Spring Fest.  This year SoCal Challengers had 44 members attend Spring Fest.  There was more than a mile of Challengers in line to enter the event.

Once at the event, we started to set up shop and sell our custom designed, limited edition, SoCal Challengers T-shirts that were designed by SoCal Challengers member Jon Sibal. All proceeds from T-shirt and lanyard sales will go to benefit our charity which is the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. We ended up raising more than $2,000 for our chosen charity.  The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund benefits the men and woman of our military that have been wounded in battle. All of the members of SoCal Challengers would like to thank you for your purchases and allowing us to give back to our charity.

sf 8 twitter ad404Other key moments at Spring Fest was having the head of SRT Design, Mark Trostle, sit with us under our canopy and speak with us for a bit. This is where Mark Trostle signed up for Twitter and sent out his first ever tweet.

SoCal Challengers member Chris Sawyer ended up winning the raffle for a 4 piece roll cage worth $1,200.00!  During our group photo we were privileged to have the President and CEO of SRT Ralph Giles present. All of us know how down to earth Ralph is, and we appreciate all he gives back to the LX community.  Another amazing experience at Spring Fest was having SoCal Challengers member Israel Magana's mom's tamales. I think 100 tamales were eaten in a matter of minutes, with no exaggeration on that number. Please thank your mom for all of us Israel . The last thing I would like to mention was having one our club's founding fathers, Jeff Lowe, attend SF with us.  Most of us didn't even he was attending so he pulled off quite a surprise. Jeff has moved to Washington and his presence has been truly missed.

sf 8 shirt a9504SoCal Challengers would also like to welcome the 4 new members that joined our family at Spring Festival. Jose Martinez-Gonzalez, Michael Williams, Richard Taylor and Randy Brambila. All of us in SoCal Challengers welcome you and we all look forward to having you guys around for the various events that are planned for this year.

group 2013At our annual meeting in February we elected new officers. David McIntosh is the new club President, Jason Ford is the new club Vice-President and Israel Magana has been elected club Secretary. Greg Smith will remain as club Treasurer and Phil Bowdoin will remain Director of IT. To our outgoing officers, we would like to extend a big thanks. To our newest club members, Ron Durham, Andy Durham, and Stanley Chau, we would like to extend a big welcome. Feel free to use the contact us link to get a hold of any club officer.

The potluck that was put together by the members and their families was truly amazing. Quite an assortment of foods.

Congratulations to SoCal Challengers longtime member, friend, and Dodge Challenger owner Karl Schello for making it on the cover of Mopar Muscle Magazine (May 2013 issue) with his 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT/8. Talk about another SoCal Challengers car club exclusive! There is a good article in the magazine about Karl and his mission to excite Mopar fans. Be sure to grab a copy of the magazine. If you didn't know, Karl built the first Modern Mopar Challenger to run over 200 MPH in the standing mile.

This club is not just about speed, it's about the Dodge Challenger and people sharing information about the car they love.

SoCal Challengers members Michael Barry, David McIntosh, Sam Covelli, Jon Sibal, Tom Burger and Israel Magana attended the 2013 Rotary - CARe Show. Take a look at our media gallery for some photos from the show.

Wounded Warriors Car ShowOn Sunday, August 12, 2012 SoCal Challengers attended another great charity event at WyoTech's 5th Annual Wounded Warrior Car Show in Long Beach.  It was a great day to have a show near the beach to stay cool.  The brass band playing music was a special touch.  I think Karl may have convinced some of us to come out to Mojave Mile in September!  Nice job!  There were so many great classics at the show and the highlight of the day was the presentation of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler to Sgt Matt Amos, a combat veteran who was wounded in Iraq in 2006.  He reminds us all of the sacrifices our men and women make everyday to protect us and preserve freedom. Congratulations to Sgt Amos!  In attendance was the Sawyers, James, Phil, Alex, Tom, Dave, Karl, Brian, Mike & Michael and Israel.

San Dimas car show 2What a great time SoCal Challengers had at the San Dimas Sheriff's Booster Club Annual Car Show on Sunday, July 29th 2012.  The SoCal weather was great and we had a lot of shade trees so we didn't even have to put up the canopy.  There were many great classics at the show.  One favorite was the completely restored Dodge Power Wagon.  We had a delicious pancake breakfast with bacon on the side.  Later in the day, we all got bacon-wrapped hotdogs for lunch.  Gotta love the food!  We made some new friends and Diceman came by to chat and hang out for the day.  Members in attendance were Dave McIntosh, James Schaap, Jim Diess and Chris Sawyer.

SoCal Challengers is actively seeking new members.  If you would like to know more about the club, check out this link.
